The School of Nursing University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UTCH) was established for the Nursing program in April 1979.
Before the establishment of the Nursing School, Students were admitted by the Cross River Ministry of Health to the School of Nursing St. Margaret Hospital Calabar, located on the premises of the College of Teaching Hospital along Mary Slessor Avenue.
The School of Nursing University of Calabar Teaching Hospital was fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) in 2009.
The school has three well-equipped classrooms, a tutorial room, a well-equipped demonstration room, a computer room, a science laboratory with reagents, an equipment store, and a library.
The school also has hostel accommodation with capacity to accommodate over 200 students. The hostel has a reading room, a kitchenette, a cafeteria, a common room, a sick bay, and laundry.

The Nursing Program at the school provides students with the following objectives
