Edo State College of Nursing Science is a prestigious college located at kilometer 6, Sapele Road by Godwin Abbe Road, Bennie City, Edo State.

Edo State College of Nursing Sciences started with two separate schools which are the State School of Midwifery and the State School of Nursing.

The State School of Midwifery was established in 1948 as a training college for Grade Two midwives at the General Hospital Benin City. The school was later upgraded to the status of a Grade One Midwifery Training institution on 27th April 1965.

The State School of Nursing, Benin was established in 1954 by the then Western Region Government to train Nurses who will satisfy the medical and health care needs of the people.

Edo State College of Nursing Sciences lost its accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and was later closed down due to some problems in 2014 but was later reopened on the 15th of October 2021 after resolving the issues that led to its closure.

The college later received a provincial accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to reopen the school of Nursing and Midwifery bringing back the basic nursing and basic midwifery program on the 25th of October 2021.

Public Health Nursing
