School of Nursing Bida
School of Nursing Bida is located along Dokodza Road Bida in Níger State. It is among one of the schools that formed the Niger State College of Sciences.
The school is regarded as one of the oldest nursing schools in Northern Nigeria. It was established in 1976 before the creation of Niger State from the defunct North Western State.
In 1979, the school gained provisional approval to commence the post-basic Nursing program, and since its inception, the school has trained over 4157 qualified general and post-basic Nurses.
The School of Nursing Bida aims to prepare professionally competent polyvalent Nurse practitioners who will use problem-solving skills in providing safe, acceptable, effective, and affordable health services to meet the health needs of individuals, families, and communities at all levels of healthcare.

Admission Requirements of School of Nursing Bida
The following are the admission requirements of the School of Nursing Bida
- Academic Qualifications: You must possess the senior secondary school certificate or its equivalent with five credits in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/ Health Sciences in not more than two sittings
- Age: You must be above 16 years of age before you can be offered admission at the School of Nursing Bida
- Pass entrance exam: You must pass the computer-based test (CBT) that will be conducted by the school
- Pass interview: After passing the written entrance exam, you will be invited for an oral interview, you must pass the oral interview before you can be admitted into the school

School of Nursing Bida offers the following Nursing Program.
General Nursing Program
This is a three-year nursing program that qualifies you to become a Registered Nurse (RN). During your study period at the school, you will be exposed to a lot of practical training and clinical practice to ensure you are fully prepared for your career.
At the end of the General Nursing Educational Programme, you will be able to:
- Apply the knowledge of biological, behavioral, and Nursing Sciences in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating Nursing care.

Post Basic Nursing Program
The Post Basic Nursing Program is an 18 months 3-semester program approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to provide you with post-basic nursing skills needed to advance your career as a Registered Nurse (RN)
At the end of your Program, you will be mandated to write a final examination which will be conducted by NMCN before you can be issued a Nursing License.

- Make payment: You are to make payment via Remita for your application to be completed
- Submit: after your successful payment, you are to return to the portal and submit your application

School of Nursing Bida has a maternal and child health clinic where they render medical and health services like antenatal care services, free HIV counseling and testing, family planning services, laboratory investigations for MP, and widal tests.
The school also has an anatomy practical lab and standard ICT lab/ Electronic library center for easy research work and other services that could assist the students with global technological advancement.
The pioneer principal of the school was the late Alh. Jamada Gana (JG) Muhammad Muye was assisted by three nurses including Mr. Philip Ndatsu ( former Secretary General of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria), three clinical staff, and some guest lecturers from the school’s general hospital.
