The College of Nursing Ihiala, also known as Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital complex Ihiala, was founded by His Grace Most Rev. Charles Heerey CSSp of Blessed Memory in 1953 and is managed by the sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

  1. Academic Qualification: You must have a minimum of five credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in not more than two sittings in your WAEC, NECO, or GCE
  2. Meet JAMB Requirements: You must sit for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Exam and obtain a minimum score of 120 to be eligible to apply for admission 
  3. Age: You must be above 16 years old before you can be accepted to study at the College of Nursing Ihiala
  4. Pass Entrance Exam: You must write and pass the entrance exam set by the college

Nursing program at College of Nursing Ihiala

College of Nursing Ihiala offers the following Nursing program. 

General Nursing Program 

The General Nursing program is a six-semester program that provides students with the basic skills to become certified nurses.

The courses in the first year of the program shall be designated at 100 level with a prefix of General Nursing (GN). The courses in the second and third year of study shall be designated at the 200 level and 300 level respectively with the same prefix.

Post Basic Nursing 

This is an 18-month Nursing program approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) designed to help those who are already registered Midwives become a Nurse or start a Nursing career.

Those who want to undergo the Post Basic Nursing program will be trained in practical nursing skills and will acquire the knowledge and skills and gain the clinical experience they need to become Registered Nurses (RN). 

Basic Midwifery 

The Basic Midwifery Program at the College of Nursing Ihiala is a three-year, six-semester program that provides students with the fundamental principles of midwifery care needed to help women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period.
