The school is located in Babura, a Local Government Area in the North of Jigawa. The school is also under the umbrella of Jigawa State College of Nursing Sciences in line with the current reform in Nursing Education.
School of Nursing Babura runs a three-year Basic Nursing and Midwifery program with a one-year mandatory community service as a prerequisite for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Basic Nursing Program
The Basic Nursing education program is a six-semester program (3 years) of study.
The courses in the first year of the program are designated in four digits (representing level, credit load, and semester for the last two digits respectively) with the prefix of BGN (Basic General Nursing).
The courses in the second and third years of study are designated as those of the first year with the same prefix (BGN).

The aim of the Basic Nursing program at the School of Nursing Babura is to train Nurses who will play an expanded role in rendering services within the hospital as well as coping with challenges of the dynamic nature of society.

Basic Midwifery Program
The Basic Midwifery Program is a three-year program that is aimed at preparing competent, skilled, versatile, and autonomous midwifery practitioners, who will be capable of providing high-level healthcare to individuals and expectant families in homes, communities, health centers, hospitals, and clinics in rural and urban areas.
At the end of the Program, you will be able to
- Assess the health needs of the community with special reference to the basic needs of the individuals/family.
- Utilize the nursing process providing comprehensive nursing/midwifery services to individuals and groups in the community and all health care settings.
- Manage minor disorders during antenatal, labor, and postnatal periods of the childbearing circle.
- Function independently and in collaboration with other members of other health teams, inter-sectoral teams, and traditional birth attendants (TBAs) to provide comprehensive reproductive health services.
- Practice and maintain safe and clean delivery service.
- Supervise the clinical experience of student midwives and other health workers.
- Effectively organize and manage the clinic to achieve the goals of health maintenance by utilizing available human and material resources.
- Sensitize, mobilize, and educate individuals, families, ñand groups to effect positive changes in the reproductive pattern of the community.
- Utilize the knowledge and skill of information, educate, and communicate in improving reproductive health care services.
- Counsel and provide family planning services.
- Monitor the effect of family planning services on individuals and the community.
