Admission Requirements for School of Nursing Abeokuta
To gain admission into the School of Nursing Abeokuta, you must meet the following admission criteria
- Academic Grade: You must possess at least five credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry in WAEC, NECO, and/ or NABTEB.

ND/HND Nursing
The ND/HND Nursing program is a four-year uninterrupted program, i.e. two years for ND and two years for HND. Students start with the ND program first which is a nonterminal program. Those students who graduate with a minimum of 2.50 CGPA will proceed to HND Nursing.
A General Nursing Certificate will be issued to you after the successful completion of your HND Nursing program.
After your graduation, you will be required to sit for the council’s professional exam in either of the two options of specializations namely:- Midwifery for registration and licensing as a Registered Midwife (RM) and Public Health Nursing for registration and licensing as Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN).
Basic Nursing
The Basic Nursing program will equip you with practical nursing skills and enable you to acquire the knowledge and clinical experience needed to become a Registered Nurse.
As a registered Nurse, you will be meant to provide support, Care, and advice to patients with medical and surgical conditions; this includes taking vital signs, monitoring patients, administering medications, taking patient records, and providing health education.

Basic Midwifery
This is a three-year six six-semester Basic General Midwifery program approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and run by the three satélite campuses.
The program is designed to train students in practical midwifery skills and give them the knowledge and clinical experience they need to become Registered Midwives (RM).
Registered Midwife provides support, care, and advice before, during, and after pregnancy, labor, and postpartum (after) birth.
Community Midwifery
This is a two-year, four-semester Community Midwifery program that is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The program is designed to train students in practical community midwifery skills and give them the knowledge and clinical experience they need to become Licensed Community midwives (LCM).
Licensed Community Midwife provides support, support, care, and advice before, during, and after pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period at the community level.
The program is only available to female indigenes and residents of Ogun State. Students undergoing this program will be sponsored by the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission. Upon successful graduation, you will be requiredto work for two years in your respective community.
The requirements for this nursing program are quite different from other Nursing programs offered by the School of Nursing Abeokuta.
Post Basic Nursing
The Post Basic Nursing Program is an 18-month, three-semester program approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and it is run by the three satellite campuses.
The program is for those who are already registered Midwives and are looking to start a career in nursing. Students will be trained in practical nursing skills and will acquire the knowledge and skills and also gain the clinical experiences they will need to become registered nurses.
Refresher Basic Nursing
This is a one-year two-semester refresher nursing program designed to provide for students who underwent training in the Basic Nursing Program at an accredited school of nursing but failed the final Qualifying Examination conducted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria after three attempts.
The program can be taken in any of the three satellite campuses in the state. You will be trained in practical nursing skills and will acquire clinical experience that will make you become a registered nurse.
